Scandinavian Season

Growing up we had a spinning Christmas scene powered by candles. I forget what they are called but they are from Sweden/Germany and such areas of the world. I always loved the beautiful carved people and the pretty colors they were painted. The next few cards feature the Scandinavian Season set, and the beauty of my childhood can be seen here.

I have sent aout about 40+ cards so far this year. I did send out many of these becuase of the simplicity and ease to make. You could make about 6 of these in about a 1/2 hour which is fast!

Let It Snow. . .

If you're Big On CHristmas, you have to be Big On Snow. . .
Here is another one of the cards I will be sending this holiday season.

Well, I think It's About Time For Christmas!!!

SO, it's been a while, ok a long, long while, but I have a camera, it's working. I have time. . .ok, well maybe not a lot, but some, and I have pictures. . .
The next two cards use my favorite holiday set, A Cardinal Christmas.

This card uses the Heard from the Heart set and takes advantage of the big shot.

What do you think?

I'm Back!!!

Whew! It's been a long time. I've been busy planting a huge garden ( I'm talking over an acre that we do mostly by hand), moving my mom to Ithaca, and spending time with my brother who is from Oregon. Life has been busy and crazy.

I did make a card for my new friend, Kristi from Honolulu. She sent me this adorable Post-It Note holder. She even created a tutorial to help me learn how to make them. You can see them HERE.

Thank You Kristi!

This is my Thank You Card I'm sending you!

Bye for now!

I will post again tomorrow!

Wedding Card #2

This card is for my boss. I am showing pictures of what it looks like when opened. I had to create space for 75 people to sign. I think it turned out well.

Weddings All Around

My boss and my coworker are both getting married (not to each other, but both weddings are soon). I love weddings, the romance and happiness that surrounds not only the couple but each person who witnesses the event is amazing.

Here is the card my coworker will receive.
I printed the saying on Vellum on my computer and overlayed it on my stamped cardstock. The pear is from the SU Level 2 Hostess set, Infinite Wisdom. I used Old Olive ink and cardstock and watercolored the image using my inkpads and aqua painter.
What do you think?

Back from vacation

Well, vacation is over. I have to admit, I didn't do much stamping over my Spring Break. I did do a lot of cleaning though. My gardens are looking pretty good. I weeded most of them and now I am all scratched from pruning my rose bush. The thing is a monster, but has the most beautiful pink roses. I am still thinking of ideas for cards for my classes I will be teaching. I ordered a bunch of new cardstock, so now I have a bunch of colors to use. . .I was very limited before.

Here is another quick little card using the SAB All About Scallops set.

First, seven facts about me.

  1. I really like being a Guidance Counselor. I like talking to kids about college planning, I love working on college applications, editing essays, reviewing transcripts, helping with resumes and brochures. What can I say. . . I love it!

  2. I have 2 dogs. I black lab, named Maggie who lays around all day like a piece of furniture, and a 1 year old pup named Sally. Sally is half yellow lab and half Saint Bernard. She's very cute, but very evil.

  4. . . .I get a new dishwasher with my tax refund!

Reach for the Stars

I just love stars, and I love the Star Punches. Give them dimension by scoring and folding at each point, then attach with a foam dot.

Back to Stampin'

It seems like it has been a long time since I posted. I think I may have made up for it. I made a bunch of cards the last couple of days. I am trying to think about what I want my peeps to do at my stampin' class I will be teaching. Here are some of my ideas.

This one uses several punches, 1", scallop, and corner rounder for the bottom scallops. I also used white craft ink and added the blue glitter to it. It was then heat set with a heat tool.
This uses a water spritzing technique. I used markers to color the stamps then spritzed with water to get a water color look. You need to use glossy cardstock for this. The little flowers have silver eyelets set in their centers and are actually raised with foam mounting squares.
This card also uses several punches.
This one is dry embossed on the red cardstock with flowers, although it is hard to see from the picture. I watercolored the flowers using my stamp pads and a blender pen.
That's all I have now, I'll be posting more tomorrow. I have to take some more pictures.
TTFN,
Carol

Another Upcoming Class Project

Using Bleaching. . .

I like using bleach, just put a little in an aqua painter and paint over the area that you want to lighten. It dries quickly and is great to add soft colors to dark cardstock. This is another card I will be demonstrating with my stamping class. Sorry It's not the best picture, but you can still see the technique.
Stamp Set: Fun and Fast Notes
Supplies: Black Craft ink, Iridescent Embossing Powder, Stampin' Chalks, Scallop Punch
Cardstock: Not Quite Navy, Ruby Red, Sky Blue
First Stamp image in black craft ink and emboss. Paint bleach on bird and flower and then chalk with a Q-tip. Punch Scallop and then cut out the middle so only the scallop remains. Adhere to the Navy cardstock and then adhere to the Ruby Red cardstock.
Go ahead and give it a try. Send me your image and I will post it on my blog!

Getting Ready for my Stamping Class

The Conference was a Success!

After months of planning, the conference is over. About 100 counselors from the CNY area showed up. The workshops were good, the food was terrific, and people have told me they are ready for next year's conference. Yeah!!

So, now that's its over I have more time to do some stamping.

Here's a little card I did this weekend. . .
Stamps: Ginormous Flowers, Wonderful Words, Boho Wheel
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Cameo Coral, Soft Sky
Earth Elements Brads, Stampin' Dimensionals

I need a break from Conference Planning!!!!

I have been planning a conference for all of the Guidance Counselors in the Central New York area since November. Over 300 invitations have been sent out and we are now the day before the big event. I have been staring hard at the computer making sure I get the last pieces of the program put together. This is my first attempt at planning an event this big, and I think it is going to go over really well. I can't wait for this to be over, though, . . .because I'd rather be staring at my stamps and paper!

For this little card, I used my Double Rectangle Punch for the ribbon placement. The stems on the flower stamp are close together and fit perfectly between the two rectangles on the punch. It makes it look as if the ribbon is holding the flowers on the card (even though there is a little glue holding them in place.

Wish me luck on everything tomorrow. Did I also tell you I'm a presenter!

Spring Perhaps?

What's to Celebrate?

Well all the ice and snow that we got this weekend, seems to be disappearing. I see mostly grass from my window this morning. It's amazing how you miss it when by the end of the summer you are complaining after mowing it for the 14ooth time!

I want some CANDY!

Yum, Blog Candy. . .that is. . .

I am approaching hit number 50. . .yes I'm still a baby, but everyone has to start small right? To celebrate, I'm going to giveaway something nice. I can't tell you yet, becuase it's a surprise, but I promise it will be nice. So with that in mind. . .

Here's what I'm asking:

Let me know what advice you have for a new blogger and what your favorite SU stamp set is. A winner will be announced Friday. . .the day my new SU Demonstrator kit is scheduled to arrive!

This is a card I watercolored with my ink pads and Aqua Painter. The Aqua Painter is nice because you fill it with water, touch it to your ink pad, and then color. Between colors, just squeeze onto a papertowel to get the remainder of the color out you just finished. Cleanup is a breeze. I talked about the Aqua Painter on Mama Stamper's Blog, as she is offering candy too by responding to the question "What is your favorite SAB set and favorite SU technique.

Bye for now and Good Luck!!!!

Flower Power

I found these cute little flowers at A.C. Moore in the dollar bin. Once I saw them I knew I had to do something with them. . .so TA DA . . .

I had trouble with the focusing but you can still pretty much see it. Sorry it is a little fuzzy.

How To:

1. Paint white with Acrylic paints

2. Trace flower onto back of DP and cut out. ( I did both sides) Adhere with glue.

3. Water color edges with Purely Pomegranate ink.

4. Punch solid card stock with scallop punch and 1 1/4 circle punches and adhere.

5. Stamp flower from "Priceless" set on base with Purely Pomegranate ink.

6. Stamp butterfly from "Priceless" set on white card stock in Purely Pomegranate ink and cut out. Adhere with foam dimensional dot.

7. Add ribbon.

Wouldn't this look cute in a little girl's room?

Valentine's Day Card Project

Over the past couple of weeks we (a group of my coworkers and stamping friends) decided it would be fun to offer a couple of classes in card-making and stamping after school to our kids. Boy were we surprised when we had a class of kids stay after with us to make some cards. We showed them some basics, and they were off and running. . .or stamping, I guess you could really say.

Here are a couple of the cards I made that we used as samples for our class.
